New Public Exhibition on Fairham Announced

Local people are being invited to visit a further Public Exhibition on the infrastructure works underpinning the £800 million, mixed use Fairham development south of Clifton.

Fairham is one of the most significant mixed use developments in the country, bringing fresh employment opportunities and much-needed new housing to the region. It will create a vibrant community with new health, education, leisure, retail and local facilities set within a well-planned, sustainable, safe and characterful environment.

More than 250 people attended the first two public exhibitions held at Barton in Fabis and Gotham in November 2019. The main topics of discussion raised at these events included traffic, education, and ecology, and the feedback received will help to inform future planning applications submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council.

Members of the local community are being invited to view details and discuss the proposals at the exhibition to be held on:

Friday 24 January 2020
12pm – 7.30pm
Clifton Community Centre, 14 Southchurch Drive, Clifton, Nottingham, NG11 8AR

The first phase of proposed infrastructure will include improvement and access works to Nottingham Road, safety enhancements to Mill Hill roundabout and new access to and from the Clifton South park and ride site. Subject to further planning approval, works on the Nottingham Road are expected to start during summer 2020.

The Fairham development site was taken out of the Green Belt by Rushcliffe Borough Council in 2014 and outline planning permission for Fairham was approved by Rushcliffe in May 2019. Proposals included more than £100 million of new infrastructure improvements, up to 3,000 new homes and around one million square feet of employment space.

Fairham is being brought forward by Derbyshire-based CWC Group in partnership with Homes England – the Government’s housing accelerator.  The partnership aims to deliver a distinctive and sustainable new neighbourhood for Nottingham that will enhance the existing area while providing much needed new housing, amenities and jobs.

CWC Group Land and Planning Director, Robert Hepwood, said:

“It was great to talk with local people at the previous events in November and hear their, largely positive, thoughts on our proposals.

“We would now like to encourage anybody who was unable to visit us earlier to call in, view the plans and have a chat so we can use their feedback to inform further work on the site.

“With more than 2,000 new jobs and up to 3,000 new homes in a sustainable and strategic location just minutes from Nottingham city centre, Fairham will be the ideal location for people to live, work and flourish, ultimately benefitting everyone in the area.”

Stephen Kinsella, Chief Land and Development Officer at Homes England, said:

“These additional public exhibitions provide an opportunity to view details of the Fairham development, which when complete will provide thousands of new homes and jobs. This development will make a huge difference to the local community so it’s really important we hear their views.”
